The House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials will hold a hearing tomorrow to review railroad, pipeline, and hazardous materials safety regulations and potential reforms.
U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.), who chairs the subcommittee, will oversee the hearing. Among those scheduled to testify are Linda Darr, president of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association; Roger Nober, executive vice president of law and corporate affairs at BNSF Railway Co.; and John Tolman, vice president and national legislative representative of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET). The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time and will be live-streamed through the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure's website.

Union Pacific today announced it is consolidating its Wichita Service Unit management with its Kansas City, Fort Worth and North Little Rock service units effective May 1. Three management positions will be reassigned to other locations as the company continues aligning operations to meet customer demands amid marketplace shifts. Cliff Bowman has been named superintendent-Transportation Services, Livonia Service Unit, responsible for safe operations across more than 800 track miles in Louisiana and Texas. Bowman, who has spent the majority of his 23-year career in the Southern Region, currently is superintendent-Transportation Services, Wichita Service Unit. He succeeds Jamal Chappell, who has taken a Harriman Dispatching Center assignment. The Wichita Service Unit's transportation, engineering, mechanical, maintenance and other operations necessary to continue running a safe and efficient railroad will remain in place. |
