Work in Topeka is progressing in the Legislature this week, I added written testimony for the Senate hearing last week and spoke to a few Senators. Senator Hardey contacted myself yesterday to discuss HB2095. Ty is doing a great job representing our interest in Topeka. Chad Henton Local Chairmain & Legislative Rep. SMART-TD Local 506 Herington,KS 67449 The Senate Transportation Committee worked HB2095 this morning and I am happy to report our amendment was successfully adopted in committee. The amendment limits to most agricultural products not shipped via rail and now makes the fee to obtain a permit over $2200. This essentially kills the intent of the commercial side of the bill. We have a few more steps. This will now go to the Senate floor for a vote. We will advocate an ultimate NO vote on the bill but will ask those that favor the trucking and commercial ag industries to support the bill as amended. If it comes out of the Senate, it will go to conference committee between the House and Senate. We will ask that the Senate remain strong on the bill as amended. A ways to go yet, but an overall victory for us today. I'd like to thank all of you that have assisted me on this legislation. Your time and efforts reaching out to your legislator have helped immensely. -- Ty Dragoo United Transportation Union - SMART Kansas Legislative Director 523 SW VanBuren Suite 100 Topeka, Kansas 66603
