Common Q&A
Can I be notified of a displacement while I am in Undisturbed Rest?
Yes. UP may contact an employee during the rest period to advise of the abolishment or annulment of his or her assignment, displacement from a job (bumped), assignment to another position/job, an emergency or other notice, or contact required by existing agreement rules.
Also, to check the 'blueprint' for the RT33, RT34 pool, enter CON for positions and then select BLUEPRINT. This lets you know where you are at and also the TC (trip counts) Check this EVERY DAY if you are on a blue print board.
When it comes to bids, DELETE ALL BIDS if you are on the board you want to be on. Some bids will stay on there and if you don't watch it, you will lose the preferred job for another job you had a standing bid on. CHECK YOUR BIDS!!!!!!

What family members qualify for Bereavement leave?
Bereavement leave applies to all TE&Y employees in the following Manner: Bereavement leave, not in excess of three (3) calendar days beginning the day of death, or ending the day of funeral or day immediately following funeral, will be allowed in the case of death of an employee's: Brother (including Half-Brother), Sister (including Half-Sister), Parent, Child, Spouse, Spouse's Parent. When should I lay off jury duty after receiving a summons?
There is no single answer to this question since each scenario and the requirements of the court can be different. It is the employee's responsibility to determine when he or she should layoff for jury duty. However, employees have an obligation to protect their work assignment if possible, including on weekends and holidays and when the court is not in session. If it is determined the employee could have protected their assignment without interfering with the jury duty commitment, he or she might not qualify for the jury duty pay benefit.
Some court jurisdictions require a potential juror to call a phone number to see if he or she will be needed for a future period. In most cases, it is not necessary that one lay off in order to call in. Many times this can be done before or after one's shift, or while at an away-from-terminal location. Regardless of whether a person has been selected to serve, or is being required to contact a number, the employee should make every effort to protect his or her work assignment, including asking to be excused where possible.
