TRAIN EXCHANGE
(PLB 5912, Case No. 120, Award No. 120)

The claim:
  • When instructed to make an reciprocal exchange of trains with another crew outside of terminal switching limits, in through-freight service.

Required Documentation: 
  1. Crews must be working in interdivisional (ID) service.
  2. At least one of the involved crews must have been on duty a minimum of eight (8) hours when the physical act of trading trains occurs.
  3. A complete copy of your federal tie-up showing both trains and MP location and time of exchange.

    EXAMPLE CLAIM:  

    Claiming 130 mile basic day for train exchange. Was called on duty for the   (train symbol) @ ­­­­­­______ hrs. At _____ hrs was instructed per Dispatcher ____ to exchange trains with Conductor ________ on the   (train symbol)_______  .  Exchange took place as ordered at MP ____ at_____ hrs. As per section 7 of the Interdivisional Agreement, and PLB 5912, case 120, award 120, this violation constitutes a 130 mile basic day penalty.
